The Power of Social Media in Advertising

The
growth of social media has been apparent for the past few years that it isn’t
used to just communicate and entertain, but it also has been a platform for
companies to market their products to which we call advertising.
Since
different age groups has been really involved in social media sites,
advertising companies takes advantage of this especially those who have wide
range of target markets for they can reach more people and gain more. Even
social media platforms acknowledges the existence of this advertising method, a
good example is the social networking site Facebook which offers ways such as
boosting your advertisements so that more people will be able to see it.
This
is due to the continuous progress of technology and people’s dependence unto it
that at this moment, almost every person in the world owns a smartphone that
can access to different social media sites however and whatever time it is.
Meaning, as the number of people that are using smartphone increases, the more
people have access to social media, the more people advertisements reach.
Notice
when you visit YouTube and the ad lasts only for 5 seconds? This is due to the
consideration that most of the people that have access to social networking
sites are millennial, and are said to have shorter attention span that lasts
only for 5-6 seconds. Meaning, advertisements geared towards this target market
already studied how they can capture and package their products basing from the
perspective of their consumers.
This
shows how social media has been a platform for advertising that even successful
businessmen once started in just a small online store. The power of social
media in advertising is evident on how it gives opportunity to companies that
wants their products to be known and helps reach people from different parts of
the world to acknowledge such product.
Lastly, it gives people the chance to explore their marketing creativity
by appealing to their consumers by learning what and what not to put in their
advertisements.
